The airport network in London which includes Heathrow is the busiest airport system in the world, in terms of the volume of travelers handled yearly. Not far behind is the EWR-JFK-LGA airports network, the air transport hub of the greater New York - New Jersey Metropolitan Area. In fact, Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), along with JFK International Airport (New York Kennedy), and LaGuardia International Airport (LGA) is the busiest airport network in the United States. In 2009, more than 35 million passengers flew through Newark Liberty airport. As such, Newark Airport parking can be frustrating to the ill-prepared passenger due to the overwhelming number of people using the airport.

There are over 17 thousand Newark Airport parking spots open to airport employees, travelers, and the public at large. These facilities include hourly, short-term, and long-term parking, both within the airport premises and at remote private locations. Parking at Newark Airport shouldn't be a problem, as long as you’re aware of your options.

Hourly EWR parking is available at Newark Airport parking lots A, B, and C and costs $3 for 30 minutes or $6 for every hour, with a daily cap of $33. This is obviously the best and easiest option - the facilities are located very close to the central terminal - if you're just driving or meeting a family member and will be at the airport for nothing longer than 1 or a couple of hours at most.

For longer parking options, three nearby Newark Airport parking facilities provide daily parking arrangements, that are significantly cheaper than the per hour rates mentioned above. Daily parking at lots P1 and P3 is $24. Daily parking at the EWR garage designated as P4 is a bit more expensive at $27. This is apparently a good choice because of the nearness of those locations, especially if you'll be on the road for no longer than one day or two.

Newark Airport long-term parking should be your option for longer trips, such as a 7-day Florida vacation, for instance. The airport provides a long-term budget parking lot (P6), located at the northern side of the airport along Port St. Dropping off your car here costs only $18 daily, which is really still expensive, particularly if you're looking at a 2-3 weeks trip itinerary.

Another alternative, if you're trying to really economize on your airport parking expense, would be the off-airport parking lots and garages. There are several nearby premium parking establishments that provide great parking services, like Airpark and Avistar facilities on McClellan St and the Avistar and FastTrack lots on Carnegie Ave. These are high-standard parking lots and garages serviced by regular shuttle transportation running in a few minutes interval, are well-staffed, are ready to help handicapped passengers, and have 24 hours access with roving security patrols. FastTrack's Sky Park facility offers the most competitive rates, but you should inquire at the individual garages for reduced rates, coupons, and free parking promos that are granted to frequent customers every week or so.

In any case, check and confirm the rates before booking your parking online. You can ask questions about their rate structure, weekday promotions, security arrangements, valet service, shuttle availability, etc. It might also be worth considering to find customer ratings of the establishment - often, the most credible source of information on the quality of their service are the the travelers who have been there previously.

As soon as you've picked your Newark Airport parking location, remember to book it before your actual flight. A smooth flight to a business or pleasure destination is always something that a lot of people, including the most jaded of travelers, look forward to. There’s absolutely no reason to let worries about airport parking ruin the experience for you.
