JFK Parking Application for the Veteran Traveler: Review of the Smart Mobile Parking App

Picture
Thanks to the information age, passengers searching for the best bargains and reduced rates for parking at JFK Airport simply have to browse the internet for a few minutes, choose from among a wide array of parking alternatives, and pay for and secure their parking space in advance of their scheduled flight. We all know how it used to be back then. Back in the nineties, passengers hunting for parking coupons have to go through magazines and tabloids to come upon the coveted (and often measly) parking discount coupon.

Thanks to online connectivity, we all now have the ability to pinpoint the ideal parking at JFK Airport and to pay for and secure that choice instantaneously, in just a few minutes - no calls or legwork necessary. Nothing can be better than this, right? Wrong. The Smart JFK Parking app just upped (no pun intended) the ante and made online parking reservations simpler and faster than ever before.

Launched by SmartPark JFK, a top-notch parking provider at JFK airport, the 'Smart' app allows passengers to simply go to the SmartPark mobile site and reserve JFK Airport parking even with no access to a PC or laptop using their cell phones only. Released last autumn, the Smart mobile app is shaping up to be a next-level customer service application targeted at the typically rushed city-dwellers.

The mobile app "exemplifies SmartPark JFK’s broader commitment to the consumer, always thinking of ways to improve the customer’s experience," explains Adam Smith, Operations Director at the parking company. "Today, more than ever, choices are plentiful but great service is not."

What’s going for this app, of course, is the PC-less convenient reservation capability. It also boasts of remote hosting which means that, unlike other travel apps, there’s no need to pay for the app or to download it to your cell phone. Since it is hosted on SmartPark JFK's own site, it won't be eating up a lot of your phone’s battery time.

The Smart app is extremely popular among the most tech-savvy 25-42 age bracket but it is also gaining some following among the over 50 age groups. SmartPark JFK estimates that about 10% of all JFK long-term parking reservations are processed via the Smart app.

The main drawback to this app that I can think of is that it limits the options of the passenger. All mobile reservations are limited to SmartPark JFK’s in-house parking services exclusively. This isn't exactly an onerous arrangement - surfers with very limited time can easily reserve their parking space in a couple of minutes from any location as long as they carry their mobile phones with them. In contrast, it would require them 10 minutes at least to sift through the different offers, if they’re able to see the rates of the other facilities providing parking at JFK Airport. The SmartPark JFK location in Queens has just recently opened for business and offers some of the most competitive rates in the in the area.

Nevertheless, if you have the time, go ahead take a look at the rates and services that the other parking sites and hotels around the airport are providing. Whether you're using your old PC or the Smart app for browsing, the important thing is to find the cheapest airport parking or the  best bargains available - there’s plenty of these, as you probably know - and reserve your parking in advance.  See what other passengers are saying about the facility you're planning to do business with. Mobile applications and computers are excellent tools when you're bargain-hunting for the ideal parking at JFK Airport but in the end, it's the feedback (in regard to these facilities)  of previous customers like you that may be the best gauge.
